How to Use This Timer

This tool allows you to manage multiple kitchen timers at once. Here’s how:

  1. Add a Timer: Give your timer a name (like "Rice" or "Vegetables"), set the duration (hours, minutes, seconds), and click the "Add Timer" button.
  2. Control Timers: Each timer card has its own controls. You can Start, Pause, or Delete it. You can also quickly add 1 minute or subtract 10 seconds.
  3. Global Controls: Use the "Start All", "Pause All", and "Clear All" buttons to manage all timers simultaneously.
  4. Alarm: When a timer finishes, its card will flash and a beeping sound will play. Clicking the button (which will say "Reset") or deleting the timer will stop the alarm.
  5. Persistence: Your timers are automatically saved in your browser. If you refresh the page, they will be reloaded (in a paused state).
  6. Print: Click the "Print Timers" button to get a clean, printable list of your active timers and their remaining times.

Glossary

Multiple Timers
The ability to run several independent countdowns at the same time. Essential for cooking complex meals where different components (e.g., meat, vegetables, sauce) have different cooking times.
Wake Lock
A browser feature this tool requests to prevent your device's screen from turning off automatically. This is crucial for a kitchen timer so you can glance at your times without having to touch the screen (which is often difficult with wet or dirty hands). It's active only while at least one timer is running.
Persistence (Local Storage)
A browser feature that allows this page to save your list of timers directly on your computer. When you close or refresh the page, your timers are not lost and will be reloaded.
US Customary Units
The measurement system primarily used in the United States. In cooking, this includes units like Teaspoons (tsp), Tablespoons (Tbsp), Fluid Ounces (fl oz), Cups, Pints, Quarts, Gallons, Ounces (oz), and Pounds (lb). Temperatures are measured in Fahrenheit (°F).
